We are excited to announce Tricia Noyola as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 2, 2022!
Originally, as part of the merger with Rocky Mountain Prep announced in August, Tricia was going to take the lead as CEO beginning July 2023. But as we started working through the integration process this year, we realized that having her lead as CEO sooner rather than later would allow for better integration of our two networks.
Our students, staff, and community will be best served this year by having a clear vision and consistent leadership from Tricia. Families can expect things to remain the same for the remainder of the school year; teachers, schools, sports, and other programs and services are not impacted as a result of the CEO change for the current school year.
We are excited that Tricia is willing to take on this role earlier. Tricia knows from her own lived experience the transformative power of education for all students. Growing up in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, she was mentored by family, friends, and educators to reach her full potential. Thanks to her strong leadership, Rocky Mountain Prep is a great place for teachers to work and for students to learn. RMP schools have all been given a Green rating by the Colorado Department of Education and, due to its high performance, RMP recently received a $4.5 million grant from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
As we announced in August, by uniting with Rocky Mountain Prep, STRIVE Prep will gain four high-performing ECE to 5th-grade elementary schools, currently operated by Rocky Mountain Prep. This will be a great addition to STRIVE Prep schools which next year will include: five elementary schools, six middle schools, and two high schools in the Denver metro area.

Having Tricia lead both organizations going forward will allow us to realize the benefits of the merger more quickly.
Tricia is eager to better get to know you and our entire STRIVE Prep community. In the coming weeks, Tricia and the team will be scheduling school meetings for families. That information will be communicated to you once we have it so stay tuned.

We write to you today about important steps we are taking to better adapt to the changing landscape in Denver and continue to provide high-quality education for our students. After much consideration we have decided that this school year will be the last year that we operate the STRIVE Prep - Lake. We will be consolidating our STRIVE Prep - Lake school with our other nearby middle schools.
We are sharing this information with you now to give you as much time as possible to make the best school placement decision for your child’s 2023-24 school year, whether at another STRIVE Prep school or elsewhere in the Denver Public Schools family of schools.
This was a difficult, but important decision that will allow STRIVE Prep to continue to best serve all of our students in this area. In reviewing the enrollment patterns of our Lake school over the past few years, we know that many of our Lake students live near other STRIVE Prep middle schools. By consolidating STRIVE Prep - Lake and moving many of those students to other STRIVE Prep schools, such as Federal, Westwood, Kepner and Sunnyside, we are ensuring students have access to well resourced schools that offer the broad and robust programming that all students deserve. This will also allow us to better meet staffing challenges and concentrate resources to build out academic, social, extracurricular and student support programs and services.
Current STRIVE Prep - Lake 6th and 7th grade students will need to submit a SchoolChoice application in Round 1 (opening January 13) and have admission priority to other nearby STRIVE Prep middle schools when selecting their schools during the DPS SchoolChoice window. Eighth graders will apply to their high school of choice as they normally would and will receive priority consideration should they choose STRIVE Prep - SMART.
STRIVE Prep and Lake staff have shown tremendous dedication to our Lake Shark students and families since STRIVE Prep - Lake opened 12 years ago, and we will continue that commitment through the end of this school year.

We are excited to announce that next year, our Far Northeast and Northwest schools will have a new transportation system and provider in DS Bus Lines, and provide better transportation systems than ever for our families and students. The details are below
What This Means
We have new buses for the 22-23 school year! Denver Public Schools will no longer be providing transportation to and from school for your student. This means that your child will no longer ride Success Express / a DPS yellow bus when traveling to and from school.
What You’ll Get with the new DS Bus Lines:
The new service does not include transportation students who are in MI, MI-S, and AN Center programs which will remain with DPS
What We Need
We need you to sign up for bus transportation next year. Follow this link and complete the enrollment process to ensure your spot on the bus. If you do not complete this process, your child may not have bus transportation next year.

I am writing to share some important news with you. STRIVE Prep - Lake Principal Tim Hall is
unable to finish this school year as Principal due to personal medical reasons. Mr. Hall has been
a valuable member of our community for 10 years and has supported STRIVE Prep - Lake as a
World Studies teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal. We are incredibly grateful to Tim for his
years of service in our community and support his difficult decision to step away from the role
at this time. Our priority is to make this transition as smooth as possible so students can
continue focusing on their academics and the next principal will be set up to lead successfully.
Beginning January 24, I (Michele Deats) will serve as Interim Principal of STRIVE Prep - Lake for
the remainder of the school year. I have been with STRIVE Prep for five years as an Assistant
Principal of Instruction, and Student Services. If you know me, you know that this school and its
students, staff, and families are my PASSION. I am here, like always, to listen and respond to
feedback from all stakeholders. It’s only by us working together that we can create the
strongest learning environment for EVERYONE in our building, our kiddos deserve it!
We are humbled by the trust you have placed in the STRIVE Prep - Lake team and look forward
to continuing our accomplishments for all our Sharks for years to come.

STRIVE Prep - Lake will be moving to a fully remote learning model for the remainder of this week of school beginning Wednesday, January 5 and continuing through Friday, January 7, 2022 with our plan to have regular in-person classes to resume Monday, January 10.
The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has had a significant impact across the country and has hit our school community especially hard. As a result, there are staffing shortages and we believe the best way we can provide a safe and productive learning environment is through primary instruction for students online. During this period, STRIVE Prep will focus on providing high quality virtual instruction to all students.
We know this last-minute decision has impacts on your schedule and we appreciate all you do to support your child in their education. By taking the remaining week off, instead of making decisions day-to-day, we are hoping this helps you plan for your entire week.

In November, Denver will elect four members to the local school board. These members are in charge of our public schools and make decisions that impact all kids in our city. The leaders who win this election will have a tremendous impact on the future of Denver’s public school students. We need to make our voices heard.
Over the next few months, you can expect to receive communications about the following activities:
• Checking and updating your voter registration. You may register at any time, up to and including on Election Day. All voters should check to make sure their registration is up-to-date. Please visit striveprepvotes.org to get started!
• Committing to vote on November 2. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get all the information you need about when and how to vote in November.
