STRIVE Prep student’s act of sportsmanship goes viral

December 16, 2019
By admin

We love it when our students are recognized for all the amazing things they do and we think it’s especially cool when their acts go viral on the internet!

Check out this video Tweet showing a STRIVE Prep - SMART basketball player assisting his opponent before scoring a shot. This instinct to put someone else first is a great reflection on the high school junior and also demonstrates the overall values the STRIVE Prep Athletics Department is instilling in students.

The post’s message, “Sportsmanship matters. #BeAboutIt” is a narrative you’ll often hear from the coaches and is illustrated daily by students and staff. Being about it, or #BeAboutIt, is a movement within STRIVE Prep schools to creative a positive environment for students to be active by focusing on participation, well-being and sportsmanship

“These days sports can get really heated and serious for students and we remind them that it’s about more than just winning,” said STRIVE Prep Athletics Director Caleb Coats. “It’s okay to be competitive AND kind.”

The video is a snippet from a high school basketball game from December 9; Campion Academy at STRIVE Prep - SMART.
