At Rocky Mountain Prep Federal's Multi-Intensive (MI) Center, big things are happening. The center, which serves students who have disabilities, teaches academics, like math and reading, as well as emotional regulation and independent living skills. While staff focus on meeting students where they are, they also encourage them to persevere through challenging situations.
Since August, the majority of the center’s students have already grown at least one grade level in math calculation and oral reading fluency. For Knauf, this growth is thrilling.
“It feels massive,” said Sophie Knauf, the center’s director. “We’ve seen our students progress so quickly and access so many new skills.”
Now in her fifth year teaching at RMP Federal, Knauf is looking forward to a special celebration in May. This is the first year she will watch students from her own classroom graduate from high school.
