Family QuestionAs we celebrate Latinx Heritage Month, what element of your culture are you most proud of or has had the most impact on you? Do you have a story or a memory about that element of your culture?
Principal NoteLobos Family,
This is our first full week of school and it feels great to start getting into a routine. We are building community in our advisories and we are excited to welcome our families next week at our Back to School Carnival on Tuesday. Please come to get to know your child’s teachers and to play some carnival games with us!

TikTok ChallengeA recent TikTok challenge has been encouraging students to break and steal things from school, especially the bathrooms.  While some of these are funny, we do want to have nice facilities for all.  Please engage with your child over this trend.
STRIVE Prep Family ForumsThese are an opportunity each semester to gather network feedback and input to better support and increase family engagement levels.  Our next forum is scheduled for Tuesday, September 21 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. and will be facilitated by Zoom in English and Spanish. We will be gathering feedback on the transition back to in person school and have an opportunity for families to get to know the new Family Engagement Team. Any staff are also welcome to join! Please include this announcement in any communication that goes out to families.  The link to register is here.  For more information, please contact Xochitl Ramirez, Outreach Coordinator.
Student Health OfficeIf you have medication to turn in to the school nurse, please bring a doctor's order form with you. You may request this form from your medical provider and have it faxed to 720-423-3493.
Public Housing Lottery (Repeat)Today (September 17th) is the last day of this year’s Denver housing authority Section 8 lottery. Go to denverhousing.org to apply. These applications open once per year.
BESS InfoNext week, students will be taking a social and emotional screening questionnaire called the Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS). The social and emotional screening will occur three times over the course of the school year. Repeated screening helps us determine if the supports we provide to students are effective in meeting their needs. The BESS only takes approximately ten minutes to complete and consists of 28 questions for the student to answer. If you do NOT want your child to participate in this screener, please fill out one of the forms below and return it to the School by 9/23/21. Please direct any questions you may have to Hannah Younger (hyounger@striveprep.org).
