Panel Discussion: Representation of Women and People of Color in Athletic Leadership

March 03, 2020
By admin

STRIVE Prep is hosting a panel discussion to cover the lack of diversity in the field of athletics, particularly within leadership; potential career opportunities and study interests for students; and the importance of student participation in school activities its impact beyond the game.

“We need leadership that reflects our students and who better understand the barriers in athletics which students face,” said Director of Athletics Caleb Coats. “From primary school all the way up through national sports leagues, policies and decisions are mostly in the hands of white men. If more women and people of color were involved in these decisions, we’d see less disparity in the outcomes and access to sports.”

The goal of the event is for students to hear first-hand from some of Denver’s athletic leaders about opportunities and pathways available in the athletic world.
