Warm hands, warm hearts! We are incredibly grateful that for the second winter season in a row, more than 50 Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) families received warm coats from our community partners at Lifespan Local. These coats were distributed at campus-run clothing drives, where Family Advocacy Support Teams (FAST teams) matched Lifespan Local’s donation with additional coats and winter gear to support more families.
A collaborative partner of RMP, Lifespan Local, is located in Southwest Denver and is deeply committed to activating community-driven solutions through elevating community voice and partnering across sectors. In December 2021, during the monthly Westwood Collaborative meeting, a space where local businesses, schools, and leaders in the Westwood neighborhood come together to share best practices and needs of the community, RMP representatives expressed how several of our students were in need of warm clothing. Lifespan Local quickly responded to the request and provided our campus with more than 50 coats for families and students, which were distributed during a coat drive. For the second year, Lifespan continued to care for our families and increased their scope of impact across our network by continuing to provide warm winter gear for our families!
Lifespan Local’s scope continues to support all of the RMP family, including teachers and staff. In addition to their donation this winter, Lifespan is launching a Teacher Appreciation event for staff, consisting of food trucks and raffle prizes. They have also served as a liaison for community partners, connecting RMP to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. As a result of this partnership, Southwest staff received over 100 museum tickets to use for 2022.
We could not be more grateful for the generous support, love, and warmth Lifespan Local continues to show our families and staff across RMP!
