Introducing the STRIVE Prep - Noel Grizzlies!

June 14, 2022
By admin

We are excited to announce that beginning in 2022-23, The STRIVE Prep - Montbello Pumas will become the STRIVE Prep - Noel Grizzlies. Grrr!

With STRIVE Prep - Montbello moving to the Rachel B. Noel campus in the new school year, it gave us an opportunity to rebrand the school with a new name, mascot and colors. Over about a 4-month period, we collected feedback from students, families, staff and the community and ultimately decided on the new name and mascot. The new colors are teal, black and blue.

About the new brand:

The grizzly bear represents independence, creativity, bravery, strength, protection, guardianship and open-hearts. We feel these traits uphold our values of achievement, justice, and perseverance. The new colors were selected from the existing STRIVE Prep family of colors, the blue being the main color found in all STRIVE Prep schools, connecting it to the network, and the black and teal being student and staff favorites.

The name STRIVE Prep - Noel carries on the legacy of the new campus’s namesake, Rachel B. Noel. Rachel Bassette Noel was an American educator, politician and civil rights leader in Denver, Colorado. She is known for the "Noel Resolution," a 1968 plan to integrate the Denver city school district, and her work to implement that plan, as well as other work on civil rights. She served on the Denver Board of Education, and was the first African American woman to hold public office anywhere in the State of Colorado.

Thank you all for your support and input during this process, your feedback helped determine the new brand and we couldn’t have done it without you.

We look forward to seeing you during the in-person registration event on August 11 where the new STRIVE Prep - Noel brand will be on full display.

Please reach out if you have any questions and we hope you have a restful and joyful summer break!

Sincerely,

Jay Gordon

Principal, STRIVE Prep - Montbello/Noel

_____

Atentamente,

Jay Gordon

Director, STRIVE Prep - Montbello/Noel
