Health and well-being our priority during Coronavirus (Español)

STRIVE Prep Families,

There have been confirmed cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States and it is anticipated to spread over the next weeks and months. As a part of Denver Public Schools, STRIVE Prep is working with the school district and health departments to monitor the situation. DPS has published an FAQ document online

If COVID-19 arrives in Denver, we have plans and processes in place to respond accordingly and prevent the spread of illness. Our goal is the safety and well-being of every student and staff member.

There are many things you can do to minimize your risk of becoming ill with COVID-19 and other viruses:

  • Stay home if you are sick and do not drop your child off at school if they are sick
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 30 seconds or more
  • Help your child wash their hands frequently and make sure they don’t touch their face
  • Avoid touching nose, mouth, eyes with unwashed hands
  • Cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze. Use a flexed elbow as a cover if you don’t have a kleenex
  • If exhibiting symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath), visit your local health provider
  • Disinfect surfaces frequently and use hand-sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands.
  • Avoid close contact (6 feet) with people who are sick.
  • Be especially rigorous with these measures when you are traveling or spending time in public places.

COVID-19 is a flu-like, respiratory illness that is spread through touch, cough, sneeze and other person-to-person contact.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has resource information here, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has information here.

STRIVE Prep and DPS will continue to keep you updated about any impacts or next steps related to COVID-19.

If you have general questions about the virus, please call CO-Help at 303-389-1687 or 877-462-2911, or email COHELP@RMPDC.org. Answers are available in English, Spanish, Mandarin and other languages.

____________
