Dear STRIVE Prep- Lake Families,
I hope you and your loved ones are well and healthy at this time. I am writing today with an update for Quarter 2. We wanted to inform you that we are currently planning for a possible return to school on October 21st. We do feel that opening is likely, and we want to provide you with information on what that return will look like. We will continue to monitor local health data to ensure this return is safe for all students, families, and staff. We will update you as soon as possible on when the option for in person learning is available.
Please know that the health and safety of our students and staff are our priority at this time. Because of this and the Denver Health guidelines that dictate the number of student and adult interactions, our model may shift depending on the number of students that opt into in person learning. We are giving you as much information as we know at this time for you to make the best decision for your family.
Please read the information below regarding the potential models we will be choosing from and fill out the short survey to let us know if your child will be returning to in person learning or will be remaining remote at home so that we can best plan moving forward. Once we have determined the number of students returning, we will send more details and a finalized update on our learning model for Quarter 2 as soon as possible.
In Person Learning Model:
Our revised in person learning model would ensure that students are placed into small groups of 15-25 students, or cohorts. Those students would remain with each other, in the same classroom every day. Following Denver Health guidelines, up to four teachers would be assigned to the group of students and would support students as they access their lessons online. This model allows all students to follow a common learning schedule that supports both in person, and online learning. It also allows for students to be able to have access to all of their courses and teachers.
If we have high numbers of students opting into in person learning, in order to accommodate all of them we would create a hybrid model in which students are placed into small groups of 15-20 students (cohorts). Each cohort would alreternate when they are in person by week. (ie - Week 1: At school, Week 2: At home). On the weeks students are not in school, they will be participating in remote learning. Again, this model would be in place if we had a high number of in person students so that we are able to accommodate all families by splitting students into smaller groups.
Remote Learning Model:
For students opting to remain in 100% online, remote learning, the model will look very similar to what it currently looks like. Schedules would stay the same, and students will continue to have the same teachers for their subjects. Teachers will be giving live, synchronous lessons to students, and providing the same opportunities to make up the work asynchronously for students who need flexibility.
Other important information to note as you make your decision:
- There will be strict safety procedures put in place for students and staff in buildings once they are open. These will include universal mask-wearing, and social distancing within classrooms
- Full food service (breakfast and lunch) will be offered for all students who choose to attend school in person
- We will continue to provide social-emotional check-ins and other support for students.
- Students who receive support for specialized learning needs (IEP, 504, ELL) will have additional support opportunities in-person.
Please note that though we think this is the most likely version of what school will look like in Quarter 2, things may change depending on health metrics and the numbers of students and staff that decide to return in person. You can always choose to move to remote learning at any time. Families that choose to be remote are expected to remain remote for the remainder of the quarter due to the challenges of planning for additional and unexpected students in the building during this time. If a family chooses remote learning for their student and has a significant change in circumstances that makes learning in person a necessity, that family should contact the principal’s office to make arrangements.
Please let us know if your student is planning on returning to school in person October 21st or if they plan on remaining in remote learning. You can let us know by responding to the text message sent to your phone. Please fill out 1 survey per student.

Espero que ustedes y sus seres queridos estén bien y con buena salud durante este tiempo. Les estoy escribiendo hoy con una actualización sobre la segunda cora. Ahora estamos planeando un posible regreso a la escuela el 21 de octubre. Sentimos que el abrir de la escuela es probable y queremos proveer información sobre cómo sería regresar. Seguiremos monitoreando los datos locales de salud para asegurar un regreso seguro para todos los estudiantes, familias, y maestros. Los actualizaremos lo más pronto posible sobre cuándo tendremos la opción de aprendizaje en persona.
Por favor sepa que la salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal son nuestra prioridad en este momento. Debido a esto y a las pautas de Denver Health que dictan la cantidad de interacciones entre estudiantes y adultos, nuestro modelo puede cambiar según la cantidad de estudiantes que opten por el aprendizaje en persona. Le estamos brindando toda la información que sabemos en este momento para que pueda tomar la mejor decisión para su familia.
Favor de leer la información a continuación con respecto a los posibles modelos entre los que elegiremos y complete la breve encuesta para informarnos si su hijo/a regresará al aprendizaje en persona o permanece alejado en casa para que podamos planificar mejor. Modelo de Aprendizaje en Persona:
Nuestro modelo de aprendizaje en persona revisado garantiza que los estudiantes se coloquen en grupos pequeños de 15-20 estudiantes o cohortes. Esos estudiantes permanecen juntos en el mismo salón de clases todos los días. Siguiendo las pautas de Denver Health, se asignará hasta cuatro maestros al grupo de estudiantes y ayudarían a los estudiantes a acceder a sus lecciones en línea. Para los estudiantes que opten por permanecer 100% en línea, aprendizaje remoto, el modelo se verá muy similar a lo que parece actualmente. Los horarios seguirán siendo los mismos y los estudiantes seguirán teniendo los mismos profesores para sus materias. Los maestros darán lecciones en vivo y sincrónicas a los estudiantes, y brindarán las mismas oportunidades para recuperar el trabajo de forma asincrónica para los estudiantes que necesitan flexibilidad.
Otra información importante a tener en cuenta al tomar una decisión:
- Se implementarán estrictos procedimientos de seguridad para los estudiantes y el personal en los edificios una vez que vuelvan a abrir. Estos incluirán el uso universal de máscaras, el distanciamiento dentro de las aulas.
- Se ofrecerá un servicio completo de alimentos (desayuno y almuerzo) para todos los estudiantes que elijan asistir a la escuela en persona.
- Proporcionaremos controles socioemocionales y otro tipo de apoyo para los estudiantes en ambos escenarios.
- Los estudiantes que reciben apoyo para necesidades de aprendizaje especializadas (IEP, 504, ELL) tendrán oportunidades de apoyo adicionales en persona.
- Insertar mensajes específicos del campus sobre programas extracurriculares y otros posibles beneficios de asistir en persona
Tenga en cuenta que, aunque creemos que esta es la versión más probable de cómo se verá la escuela en el segundo trimestre, las cosas pueden cambiar según las métricas de salud y la cantidad de estudiantes y personal que decidan regresar en persona. Siempre puede optar por pasar al aprendizaje remoto en cualquier momento. Se espera que las familias que eligen estar alejadas permanezcan alejadas durante el resto del trimestre debido a los desafíos de la planificación para estudiantes adicionales e inesperados en el edificio durante este tiempo. Si una familia elige el aprendizaje remoto para su estudiante y tiene un cambio significativo en las circunstancias que hace que el aprendizaje en persona sea una necesidad, esa familia debe comunicarse con la oficina del director para hacer los arreglos necesarios.
